Amber — some concerns

Independent assessment

West Midlands Safari Park publishes substantial access support, but steep and mixed-surface routes, assistance-dog exclusions and ride conditions require careful planning.

Why this rating

The park provides 41 Blue Badge spaces, a Changing Places facility, mobility-equipment hire, sensory resources, a Quiet Room, an accessible minibus and free Essential Companion arrangements. Its official guidance also identifies gradients and compressed-gravel paths, advises wheelchair and scooter users against the steep approach to the African Walking Trail, restricts assistance dogs from the Safari Drive and several animal areas, and offers only limited ride-exit queueing subject to discussion on the day.

What to know before you go

The Safari Walk includes gradients, tarmac, compressed gravel, decking and bridges, so some wheelchair users may need assistance. The steep compressed-gravel approach to the African Walking Trail is not recommended for wheelchair or scooter users; an alternative tarmacked road is published. Queueing at ride exits is limited and must be discussed at the Wristband Office. Assistance dogs cannot enter the Safari Drive or several animal areas, and every rider must be able to sit up and hold on unaided.
