About Jarvis Access

Clear information is part of fair access.

Jarvis Access is an independent UK directory created to help disabled people, carers, families and companions understand attraction access arrangements across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland before they travel.

Why this site exists

A personal experience with a wider purpose.

Jarvis Access was created by Chris Jarvis. The idea grew from Chris’s experience of an ongoing dispute with Merlin Entertainments concerning access arrangements. That experience brought a wider problem into focus: disabled people and their carers should not have to search across multiple pages, interpret vague wording or arrive uncertain about the support available to them.

The purpose of this site reaches beyond any one company or dispute. We want to make published access information easier to find, compare and understand, while recognising that every person’s needs and every attraction’s arrangements are different.

Good access begins before a visit. It includes knowing how parking works, whether a route is step-free, what support is available, whether a carer ticket is offered and what evidence may be requested. Clear information gives people a fairer opportunity to plan with confidence and make choices for themselves.

Our independence matters. Jarvis Access is not affiliated with Merlin Entertainments or with the attractions listed. The directory does not decide individual disputes and does not replace confirmation from an attraction; it helps people understand the information attractions publish.

Our funding follows the same principle. Accessibility information stays free, and no commercial relationship can affect which venues are listed, how they are described or how they are assessed. Read our plain-language funding policy.

What we believe

Principles that guide the directory.

Fair access is not a single feature or badge. It is the result of practical arrangements, respectful treatment and useful information working together.

Clarity before travel

People should be able to understand the important arrangements before committing time, money and energy to a visit.

Carers are part of access

Companion and carer arrangements, including tickets and supporting evidence, deserve the same visibility as physical facilities.

Sources stay visible

Every summary should remain traceable to official guidance, with a check date that makes its age clear.

Experience improves information

Feedback from visitors can reveal missing detail, changing arrangements and the practical reality behind a policy.

What Jarvis Access does

From published guidance to practical planning.

We organise the information people commonly need, keep the original source attached and invite corrections when something changes.

Bring details together

We gather published information about arrival, movement around a site, facilities, sensory needs and ticket arrangements.

Make comparisons easier

Consistent headings and filters help visitors compare attractions without learning a different website structure each time.

Keep listening

Questions, corrections and lived experiences help identify what needs checking and where more clarity is needed.
